How do I meal prep?

By now I’m sure we have all heard that “abs are made in the kitchen” and you know what….it’s true. And that is part of the reason why it is taking me so long to get one lol. With our everyday busy lives some how we have to fit in going to work, gym, take care of family, cook meals for them to eat and cook our meals from our meal plan? That sounds like a lot and it is, but the best way to make it through is to meal prep for 3-5 days at a time. My usual prep day is Sunday. I have a meal plan that my trainer created specifically for my goals. My meals consist of protein, veggie, carb. They are weighed out on a scale and put in these AMAZING prep containers I got from Amazon. It’s good to try to eat every 3 hours so you most likely will have 3-4 meals per day plus a couple shakes. I bake all of my meats which consist of chicken and ground turkey you can add a fish to your protein if you’d like. Limited salt for the seasonings, my go to is Mrs. Dash which is a Salt free seasoning, but you still get full flavor. For my veggies I usually will do Brussels sprouts, green beans, broccoli, asparagus and kale. Switch it up so you don’t get bored, boredom is the fastest way to fat off the wagon. For my carb it is either a sweet potato or brown rice. Remember moderation is key so depending on your weight loss plan your carb intake maybe super limited so carbs might not even be on your meal plan list.. I’ve attached the Amazon link to the meal prep containers I use. They are BPA free and your food doesn’t last like plastic when you warm your food up. 

 

Another way to meal prep if you absolutely just don’t have time you can order from meal prep companies. These pop up meal prep companies are becoming more and more common as the world is trying to get healthier. Many companies are working through IG and out of Gym’s. Always get recommendations from people that have used these meal prep services because everyone isn’t legit lol. Another service  that is ok to use and has plenty of options are the home delivery services such as Hello Fresh, Plated, Home Chef things like that. These are good for quick fresh meals that you can preselect weekly and season to

 your own liking. With these you have to choose the meals that are more aligned with your goals, but they get the job done.  I personally have tried the Hello Fresh brand for a week and I actually liked it. The food was super fresh and they had options that fit within my goals. I hear that Home Chef might be a little better when it comes to options as they have shake and snacks along with meals. If I happen to try them I'll definitely do a review. If you have tried any of the meal delivery services or  meal prep company comment below about what you did or didn't like about them.
